Planning; Hair and makeup

Makeup

Overall makeup within this narrative will be subtle, and not made as a statement feature on any one of the characters faces. This is due to the fact that none of the actors require extensive amounts of makeup in order to present their character.

Main character- Within the first few scenes of seeing the main character with her boyfriend, this will be the time in which she wears the most makeup (yet still not extensive amounts). This is to show that the period of time in which she is still with her boyfriend is when she looks the most alive and would have the time and effort to get up and do her makeup in the morning. As opposed to scenes after her boyfriend has broken up with her, after this point the main character will no longer be seen wearing makeup. Within the scenes that she is with her boyfriend the main character will be seen wearing mascara in order to open up her eyes and accentuate her lashes, giving her a more awake lively looking appearance. Concealer will also be used under the eyes to hide any dark circles, again giving the appearance of a more functioning being. After the scenes of the main character with her boyfriend, she will no longer wear makeup (the occasional bit of mattifying powder may be used to reduce shine). This is to heighten her new depressed personality, emphasizing the fact that she has no further concern for her appearance, and letting herself go. This will also make her appear more gaunt and tired, linking to the effects of depression, this should be shown through the dark circles under her eyes and the lack of colour to her face in general.

Main characters boyfriend- Generally no makeup will be used for this character, just perhaps some light mattifying powder to reduce shine.

Mother- Again, the makeup for this character will be subtle and not a statement, as she is a presented as a catholic woman I wish for her to look as natural as possible with little makeup being used. For this character some light mascara and blusher will be used to show that she is modest, yet is still caring of her appearance. The blusher will give her the appearance of a flushed look- which is typically associated with modesty.

Hair

Main character- The main character will be shown with many various hairstyles throughout the entirety of the music video, this is to help show the different times that each scene is filmed (along with costume). Generally within the scenes that the main character is with her boyfriend, her hair will look well kept neat and tidy, these hairstyles will include plaits, half up and half down, or down and straight. All of these hairstyles would imply that it has taken time in order for it to look this way. However after the break up period the main characters hair will begin to look untidy and uncared for, including a hairstyle involving a messy bun and also fully down, but looking bedraggled and slightly wavy. These two contrasts will help to convey the different mental stages of the main character, with the first set showing that she is contented, and the second showing she is going through a rough patch in her life.

Main characters boyfriend- The main characters boyfriend will be shown to have lightly styled hair, using some hair gel, however this is not heavily used. This hairstyle will be shown in a loose fashion.

Mother- This character is only featured within two scenes, within each of these scenes she will have a different hairstyle. Within the scene in which she is shown having an argument she will wear her hair in a modest low ponytail, then later when the over the shoulder shot is shown she will have her hair down. This is to show that the stability in her life has deteriorated, after the death of her daughter.
