Planning; Casting callout

A female actress will be needed to fulfil the role of the main character, as well as the main characters imaginary friend. However as my short film will be set over a number of years, the age of these characters will have to change in order to signify this passing of time. This therefore means I will have to cast a number of actresses in order to successfully create this appearance, I thought three would be the appropriate number to then have three stages of age.

Age group 1

Two young girls between the ages of 4-6 will be needed to cast for the roles of the imaginary friend and the main character, for the first third of the film.

Main character- A young female between the ages of 6-8 will be needed in order to fill the position of this character within the young stage, this character ideally need to have blonde hair and blue eyes. Along with a temperament that is easy to work with, allowing myself as a director to insure that the acting is of a good quality. This girl will be playing the main character of the first third of the film, as the actress required is of such a young age and is only cast for a third of the film, no previous acting experience is required. However it is imperative that the child is able to listen and respond to tasks that are retired with the right temperament, and be able to then perform these tasks.

Imaginary friend- A young female between the ages of 4-6 will also be needed to fill the position of the imaginary friend for the first third of the film, however will need to have opposing features from that of the main character ie brown hair and brown eyes. Similar to the above being that it is not a required necessity for the actress to have had previous acting experience, just the ability to follow instructions.

Age group 2

Two teenage girls between the ages of 12-14 will be needed to fulfil the position the main character and the imaginary friend, for the second third of the film.

Main character- A young adult between the ages of 12-14 will be needed to fulfil the role of the main character within the second third of the film. To make the narrative clear, this actress will be required to have similar features to that of the younger actress playing the main character- these being blonde hair and blue eyes, this is to make it clear that this actress is the same person as the younger actress however evidently older. Unlike the previous advertisement, this actress will be required to have some lines of speech, as well as a more complicated role overall. It would be recommended that this actress have had past acting experience of some form, however this is not a required necessity.

Imaginary friend- A young adult between the ages of 12-14 will be required to fulfil the position of the imaginary friend within the second third of the film. To again, make the narrative clear, this actress will be required to have similar features to that of the younger actress playing the imaginary friend (brown hair brown eyes). This character will also be required to have some lines of speech, and a more complicated role. Past acting experience is recommended, however not required.

Age group 3

Main character- A teenager between the ages of 16-18 will be recruited for the role of the main character within the third and final stage of the film. The same as with the other two actresses for the main character, this actress will be required to have blonde hair and blue eyes. It is a requirement for this actress to have past acting experience, due to the fact that this actress will have the most complex role within the entirety of the film, and will have to be a convincing actress in order to ensure this film is of the highest quality. Speech within the film will be required.

Imaginary friend- A teenager between the ages of 16-17 well be needed in order to play the part of the imaginary friend within the final stage of the film. The same as the two previous actresses playing the role of the imaginary friend join different age groups, the same general features will need to be kept consistent throughout- these being brown hair and brown eyes. Again it is recommended for this actress to have had past acting experience due to the complex nature of this role- however as there is no speech required of this character it is not a requirement, however it is advised.

Parent

An additional role of the child's parent will also need to be cast, this actress will be required to have one line of speech within the entirety of the short film, ideally between the ages of 30-40. This actress will only be shown in the background of the scenes with the youngest set of children supporting them riding bikes or at the park acting as a general mother figure would do within these situations however her face will only be shown for one shot hen she delivers her line of speech. Past acting experience is advised.
