Kings of leon is an american rock band forming in Nashville Tennessee, in 1999. They achieved initial success in the United Kingdom, with nine top 40 singles and two Brit awards in 2008, following the release of their album only by the night released earlier that year. Their most popular among these songs are 'sex is on fire', 'use somebody' and 'notion'. The reason for choosing this particular magazine cover is due to the fact that, it is completely opposing in almost all aspects, compared to my genre.

Within this magazine advertisement it seems to be quite busy with regards to the general design. However there does appear to be a consistent theme flowing throughout the design, this being of a distorted, recording design. The small crosses, the red dot in the top left hand corner and the font all give the implication that it comes across as a recording. Paired with this very digital looking font- almost like an alarm clock gives a very futuristic aura, this font has been kept consistent throughout the advert, working well as it gives a professional effect. The fact that the underscores have been placed as opposed to spaces then heightens this effect. The image used on this magazine advert has been directly taken from the album cover itself, therefore keeping a consistent theme within their marketing method and also serving as not to confuse the audience. With regards to the image itself a mixture of a man and an eagle has been used to create this striking image. The male's face has been quartered with the top half of the head appearing smaller in size to that of the lower half. all of these features have been paired with the image of a bald eagle, in which its eyes are featured directly underneath that of the males. the use of two sets of eyes is slightly confusing but is very effective in directly addressing the audience, due to the fact that it looks as though both pairs of eyes are staring at you as an audience member, which is a marketing method often used in advertisements. The colour scheme presented throughout, is very similar in the sense that the greeny blue colour has been used as a hue, as well as featuring within the name of the album, then with the white as the band name, and extra information. However the colour red is the element that almost appears odd as it does not match the theme. But this has been used in order to highlight the release date of the album. Red is often used when highlighting important information. The bands website is also included, to further get the audience involved within the release of the album.
